This is a well written enemies to lovers romance between Luke and Joyselyn. They enter into a fake relationship each for their own reasons. But what happens when it's more? The author does a great job building the story and paints her scenes perfectly as she moves it fluidly. It's an emotional story and I enjoyed reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

This is the stupidest book I've ever read. It is frustrating to see a somewhat decent character that is jocelyn to be so spineless as to love a pathetic male lead(is his name luke?). Most of the time the characters fight with each other make up for their lack of compatibility with sex and then go around saying that they have feelings for each other but then deny that in public. What is happening here. And that end conflict , that is the fucking reason I'm writing this damn review because what was that ending . The perfect ending would be both of them getting divorce and never ever seeing each other.

This was an enjoyable story filled with tons of family drama, right down to friends to enemies who have a love hate relationship.

We liked the characters well enough but, I would not go as far that we loved them and that is because felt this couple lacked chemistry between them. I got the love hate thing and I think had the author had gotten that out of the way before the fake marriage started or the beginning of their marriage they couple might have had a fighting chance to make a go of the marriage for real and putting the past behind them.

Jocelyn was a pretty goal driven hard worker whose life was all about her career and family, not much downtime to play with. Luke on the other had lived a bit differently but, his life was always full of his family's drama.

I think grandma was a romantic at heart and wanted what was best for her grandsons when she came up with her crazy scheme, maybe she already had a girl in mind for Luke and just forced his hand but, one will never know. I have to say, loved the pet rabbit of Jocelyn who really became the icebreaker between the couple.

Not only that, but I liked Luke and Jocelyn as a couple because they really were perfect for one another, they had to just bide their time through the rocky waters. Loved the small town feel. I think in the end bottom line love is worth the risk after all...

4 star Review My Heart To Keep (Hazel Island #2) by Iris Morland

Iris Morland is a new author to me and I am surprised that I have not come across her books before. This is Luke Wright and Jocelyn Gray’s enemies to lovers story and was an entertaining read that ticked a number of boxes for me.

These two have a complicated history and when they agree to a marriage of convenience these enemies have no idea of the chaos that they are about to bring down on themselves. As the walls that they have build between them start to crumble, will they take a chance on love or are they destined to be enemies forever.

Jocelyn is struggling to keep her family afloat and I admired her determination and strength. When Luke proposes a marriage of convenience her initial reaction is to say no, but circumstances leave her no choice.

Of course living on a small island it means that everyone has an opinion and are all in one anothers’ business so that added an additional layer to the story. There was a great deal of miss communication between them and that was at times frustrating.

Luke and Jocelyn’s journey was certainly rocky but it was entertaining.

Luke and Jocelyn are classic examples of not communicating. Some of that had to do with the way they were both raised. Also I think they were afraid that if one cared for the other, then the other wouldn’t care for them. Neither had a good example of love and marriage. I felt bad that Jocelyn had to act as the mother to her younger sister while they were growing up. Add to the fact that Luke ghosted her when they were in high school. Now they both need each other because of finances. Which of course caused another wrench in them finding their happily ever after. They two had a long path, but interesting to really find each other. I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review

A fake relationship rekindling their very real feelings. This pair drew me in to their story from the beginning. I was immediately captivated by the chemistry that crackled between Jocelyn and Luke, even though it manifested itself as hate more often than not. Neither one had very good examples of successful relationships, either romantic or family. These two could have been doomed from the start, but instead they rose above their bad examples to give me a fairy tale ending worthy of the description. The teaser in the close of this book has made me positively rabid to learn what’s going to happen next.

My Heart to Keep goes from a story of frenemies to the journey of the underdog. Morland takes life at it's most vulnerable and turns it into an empowering quest of hope. Jocelyn and Luke are a work in progress. From their strong opinions to their deep attraction, it's their unpredictable behavior and strong, chaotic emotions that made a lasting connection with this reader's heart.

Everything you expect in a fake marriage is in Jocelyn and Luke's story. It has all the family drama, the awkwardness and the sexual tension. I am team Jocelyn for this story. She is strong yet vulnerable. She is hard yet soft. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders and no one seems to notice. She cares for those around her and yet no one has her back. As far as Luke goes, he's a good guy but, misguided. He is selfish and determined to "earn" his inheritance by marrying Jocelyn.

What bothers me about their story is that Luke and Jocelyn have a past which, has affected their present relationship. Jocelyn hates Luke and Luke knows why. He can't blame her but, he gets upset with her when he thinks her feelings aren't real. I kept thinking, "are you kidding me?" in regards to Luke' perceptions. He and Jocelyn have known each other since they were in school. They live on a small island where everyone's business is everyone's business. How can Luke possibly be surprised by Jocelyn's family issues or motives to agree to their marriage?

Also, this whole marriage for an inheritance scenario is a bit off on timing. Jocelyn needs to help her father who is getting foreclosure notices and past due medical bills that seem to be of immediate importance. This is the whole reasoning behind her getting past her hatred of Luke and marrying him. But, Jocelyn has to be married to Luke for a year and be convincing it's a love match before any of that money can be disbursed. What is going to happen to Jocelyn's dad before that happens? How will Jocelyn manage all of this? It doesn't detract from the story but, it is something that jumped out at me while reading.

I really like this story and feel good about Jocelyn and Luke. They hit some big bumps but, come out the other end with a beautiful happy ending and a promise of forever love.

My Heart to Keep takes us back to Hazel Island for an angsty, emotionally-wrought addition to Iris Morland's series.

As the head chef of a busy restaurant on Hazel island, Jocelyn Gray works hard to make the restaurant successful and earn enough to help support her family. With a father in poor health and a sister struggling to run a business, Jocelyn has to control every aspect of her life to handle day-to-day living.

Luke Wright is a member of Hazel Island's first family and needs to marry to gain inheritance from his grandmother. He wants to use the inheritance to do good things for the island and its residents but, while marriage was not on the horizon, he can consider marrying only one person.

Luke and Jocelyn have a hate/love relationship that is fed by underlying attraction. They say there is a thin line between love and hate, and Jocelyn and Luke find the line blurs once they are married. They have to deal with challenges on the road to HEA but are better for it.

"She's the strongest person I've ever met. She makes me want to be a better man."

The families in My Heart to Keep have major issues, so much so that Jocelyn and Luke's story can get overshadowed by much of the family drama. It is a worthwhile addition to Morland's Hazel Island series, but I didn't enjoy it as much as Gwen and Jack's story.

My Heart to Keep is the second book in the Hazel Island series. Jocelyn takes her family’s burdens upon herself and they desperately need money. Luke wants to help others and with his inheritance, he’ll be able to help so many, but he needs to get married first. They strike a deal for a fake marriage, but there’s a lot of animosity between them from their past. With high tensions and a lot on the line, could this fake relationship and love turn real?

I have really been enjoying fake romances and marriages lately, and I was excited to read this book! Jocelyn and Luke are characters you meet in the first book in the series, and you know that she does not like him! So there’s instant tension, chemistry, and you can’t help but wonder about their past connection! I loved getting to know more about both characters and what makes them tick. Jocelyn was an interesting character because she had some qualities that I just didn’t like, but I did enjoy reading about her vulnerable side that she shows to Luke. I think she redeems herself as the book continues, though. I liked Luke! He had some surprising secrets and I loved his compassion. He brought out a side of Jocelyn that no one else really got to see, and was protective of her, too. I liked their connection and their chemistry. I thought some of the transitions could have been better, and I did struggle to connect to the story at times, but overall, I liked this book! I look forward to the next in the series!

This is a new author for me, and I enjoyed the story and the characters and her writing. It was an enemy who get married for his benefit, so he can get his inheritance. But he also has to prove he is in love with his new wife to his grandmother's best friend.

It stars Jocelyn, who has had the worst luck lately. She has so many balls in the air that she can hardly breathe. When her nemesis, Luke comes to her with a proposal, and she has to decide to marry him or not.

Honestly, while I enjoyed this story a lot. I had no idea what she got out of the deal. Maybe when he gets his inheritance, she thought she could share the wealth. But it was never a part of the contract. I really did not have any idea why she would do it.

Luke was just as bad. When he finds out how broke she is. His reaction made no sense to me. It's not like she married him for love or even like, they were enemies, and he did her wrong years before.

Aside from not understanding those two things I did enjoy the book and romance between these two. It was a wonderful hate romance which I love. I also found it a fast read and the story was a lot of fun. I really loved Luke and Jocelyn.

I was a volunteer ARC for this book for an honest review. You need to read this book! Loved it! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down. Jocelyn and Luke are strong characters. They dated when they were teenagers when Luke broke it off suddenly. Since then, Jocelyn has held anger with the way she was treated back then. She is home and taking care of her father who needs assistance at home. Jocelyn has always taken care of her dad and her younger sister, Alex. Money is tight for them because of Jocelyn's dad's medical bills and unpaid monthly mortgage. Alex is having trouble keeping her bookstore afloat and isn't able to help financially. Luke finds out that to receive his inheritance from his grandmother, he must marry and stay married for a year. Luke talks to Jocelyn about becoming his wife until the year is up and she agrees. Feelings begin to show between the two of them and they realize they need each other more than they thought. I will say that I absolutely loved the part where Luke catches up to Jocelyn at the Ferry! This is a HEA book that had just the right amount of suspense to make you not want to put the book down.

This is a frenemies to lovers story of Jocelyn and Luke. Luke is from one of the wealthiest families on Hazel Island. His grandmother has died and her will stipulates that he's inheriting most of his grandmother's estate but he has to marry for love and stay married for three years. Jocelyn and her family need money and when Luke suddenly proposes marriage, she accepts. Everyone is questioning their hate to love marriage but have to convince his grandmother's friend that they are really in love. There's a lot of angst in this story with Jocelyn and Luke fighting their feelings plus misunderstandings to Luke's family putting pressure on him to stay married so they don't have to lose their status in the community. Jocelyn and Luke had a history from high school and she has to try to get over how that was ended. This book although good is not one of my favorites because of all the misunderstandings and angst, but that's just my feelings on it since I tend to not like a lot of angst in the books that I read. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. I received an early copy to read and review from Booksprout. I'm leaving my honest review.

👩‍🍳Bossy pants chef: can she let go?💞

I enjoyed Jocelyn's story. She's a woman who was shaped by a family situation that made her grow up too quickly, and a stunted teenage romance that pushed her to focus on her work, perfection and control. But life throws her some big curves, including Luke Wright, a wealthy former flame who might solve her problems (or be more trouble than he's worth). Her brittle relationship with her sister gets significant play, and both the sister and Luke's Black Sheep brother complicate matters to add some conflict for the couple.

I loved the lightly humorous touches added by Jocelyn's pet bunny and the financial and family dynamic issues here are realistic.

This was an easy, quick read with small doses of steam. I had read the first book in the Hazel Island series but this is a standalone, easily understood without reading the earlier book. It's got no cliffhanger and ends happily, though the last few pages do set the stage for a follow-up book focused on Jocelyn's younger sister.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book provided through Booksprout; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Jocelyn came back to Hazel Island to keep her family together and open up a restaurant with her friend. She isn't easy to work with but she knew what she is doing and she didn't care about other people's opinion especially Luke Wrights. She really hated Luke who is wealthy, good looking and everyone in Hazel Island knew about it. She couldn't stand him and they couldn't be in same room without arguing. Until Luke propose a fake marriage.
Luke's inheritance from his grandmother could save his parents and his childhood home if he could find a wife. He couldn't think of anyone other than Jocelyn. She is feisty and something about her intrigue him. So he thought she would be perfect to play his fake wife.
Both went into marriage without really thinking about consequences. They believed their feelings won't get involved until everything gets more complicated. They were suppose to hate each other but more time they spent together, they were more comfortable and relied on each other's support. Things seems to go well until his brother and her sister gets involved.
This is quick and easy read. Small town vibe with characters from previous book. I did like Luke and Jocelyn more than other ones. I would love to know what really happens to their siblings. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Stubborn enemies in forced proximity to lovers forever
My Heart To Keep (Hazel Island Book 2) by Iris Morland is a stubborn enemies to lovers romance with a fake marriage thrown in to add some fuel to the fire. Despite the hard feelings, their attraction is undeniable. Luke is determined in many ways, but it takes Jocelyn some time, and an long overdue explanation, to convince her.
The plot is interesting and full of angst between these two characters as well as within themselves. In addition to the fake marriage, forced proximity comes along with that territory. But I love how these two come together to achieve Luke’s inheritance. There’s plenty of ups and downs and emotional upheaval that will keep readers turning the pages.
Overall, Luke and Jocelyn’s romance is high in emotional turmoil, strong in connection, steamy, then heartfelt declarations bringing about their HEA. The fake marriage a sham no more.

Jocelyn and Luke have history - in high school they briefly dated, until Luke decided to suddenly break it off. When Jocelyn returns to Hazel Island after culinary school, they barely tolerate each other. But when Luke needs to get married to receive his inheritance, she says yes, hoping that this will help her to support her dad, who had a stroke and was behind in all his bills. Their friends and family are bewildered and upset at the sudden marriage but they are both committed to staying together, Jocelyn to help her dad, Luke to support some of the green initiatives he wants to do on the island. But when they both have all their cards on the table, will they be able to move forward together?

I have read the other books in this series and really liked them as well. You would not have had to read the other books to enjoy this one - it does work as a standalone. The characters and setting are interesting. This book clearly sets up the next one, about Alex, Jocelyn’s sister.

This was such a great enemies to lovers/second chance romance!!

I really liked Jocelyn and Luke, though they both had some unflattering moments. Together, they transformed into something else. I felt the tension between them, at first it was buried under the animosity, but later it was undeniable!
I don’t know what to make of Tristan, though I felt horrible for him. But I also really want to know more! Where has he been? What has he been doing for the last decade?
While I liked that Luke’s parents were excluded from the will, I do wish that he and Tristan finally put them in their place. They did detestable things and just seem like awful people, especially Gregory.
My heart warmed when Jocelyn and Pete and Jocelyn and Alex hashed things out!
Who was the mystery man? Could it be Tristan? I really, really want to know!!!

My Heart to Keep is book two in the Hazel Island Series and Luke and Joycelyn’s Frenemies to fake marriage to lovers is a great addition to the series. This is a journey about a couple who are both afraid to commit, a couple who don’t communicate and a couple who deep down want love but are afraid of what love brings. Luke and Joycelyn have a history that goes all the way back to high school but now they find themselves needing each other so could a marriage of convenience solve their problems….
Problem is what happens when lines are crossed and will either of them admit to their real feelings.
This is a captivating read, it’s unpredictable and it has strong characters that are easy to connect with but more importantly it’s a well written live story full of emotions. Great read and great follow up from book one in the series.

Luke and Joclyn are the quintessential one that got away and not communicating.
These two are oil and water to everyone in Hazel Island. Then Luke's grandmother dies and her will states that everything goes to Luke if he can get married and stay married for a year.
Luke on a whim asks Joclyn to marry him. Joclyn needs money to help her family.
Joclyn is a young woman who had to grow up quickly when her mom leaves and she raises her younger sister. She needs her life to be organized.
Luke grew up in wealth. His brother leaves the family after his father does something. Luke tries to keep things going and not make waves in the family.
These two come together and realize there is a fine line between hate and love.
Can two people who don't want to admit how deep their feelings are survive their meddling siblings and their fear of being hurt?

This is the second book in this series and is Luke and Jocelyn’s story. These two have a complex relationship, and Jocelyn has hated Luke for years, and he knows why. Jocelyn is a head chef at a busy restaurant, and she is struggling to support her family and keep their heads above water. Luke has great intentions of putting his family’s wealth to effective use, until he finds out that he needs to be married to inherit. Now needing a wife quickly, Luke knows the perfect woman to approach. Can these two move on from enemies / lovers? This is a well written story which has family, communication, challenges, drama, emotions, and love, which leads to an entertaining and all-consuming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Jocelyn loves her family however circumstances forced Jocelyn to accept more responsibility way before she should have, and they are struggling. She never expected help to come in the form of the man who broke her teenage heart who now wanted her to be his wife.

Luke has inherited his grandmother’s estate however there is a major caveat which he needs to marry for love. He approaches Jocelyn with what appears to be a win-win for both of them, but will this be their second chance or ae they destined for heartbreak once again?

Their family’s situations may have brought Jocelyn and Luke together, but it will also force them to face the differences of the past if they are to have a future together.

a marriage of convenience
Jocelyn and Luke have past history so their present relationship is not good. Will the past mean they can't have a future? Jocelyn has the responsibility for her family and is struggling. Luke has inherited his grandmother's estate, but the will comes with a stipulation - he must marry and to be a love match.
Obviously Jocelyn is a natural choice because of their previous involvement and each stands to gain from the money. Drama, emotions, pressure and lack of communication hinders their situation. Past friends to present lovers with HEA

So we continue the series on Hazel Island with Luke and Jocelyn’s story. We briefly meet these two in the first instalment and it’s obvious that they have history and not the good sort. They also have strong opinions about each, whether they are right or wrong.
Luke has a proposition for Jocelyn and she’s not sure how her heart will cope with fulfilling it but needs must as she struggles to cope with the responsibilities that come with family.
Will their hearts and their friendship survive.
This was not a long book and felt it a little rushed but loved the characters of Luke and Jocelyn. I want to know who that was on the beach!

At this point, Iris Morland is just churning out nonsense plots to say she wrote another book 🙄

This one is an enemies-to-marriage-of-convenience novel with a whole lot of family drama in which we're told the "pale and drab" female MC isn't "conventionally attractive". Love that for her from her new husband 🤮

Luke marries Jocelyn to get his inheritance, but then when he finds out that she too needs money, he's upset??? BUT THAT'S EXACTLY WHY YOU GOT MARRIED???

The pacing is off once again, especially towards the beginning, and so much of the dialogue is cringey.

Also, the conflict was so flimsy!

I was annoyed with the entire book.

Will I read the rest of the series? Probably. Will I enjoy it? Probably not.

Jocelyn Gray is struggling to keep her head above water as the past due bills keep coming in from her father’s ill health. As her mother left when she was a child, the responsibility of family fell on her as her father was working all the time to take care of the family. Now Luke Wright, who broke her heart while in school, has come for her help to get his inheritance from his grandmother. There is a lot to this story but let’s just say that the reason for the breakup in high school wasn’t what Jocelyn thought.

I loved this book. The story line was incredible and the characters had so much chemistry. Jocelyn and Luke definitely had one of those hate/love things going on but they both really needed each other. Luke need Jocelyn to marry him so he can inherit his grandmothers money. Jocelyn needs money so what better way to get it. Problem is there is so much emotion going on between these two that the book is full of so much misunderstanding, pain and even some heartbreak that their story is not all happiness and sunshine. Even with all that this book is a must read.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series where we get Jocelyn and Luke's story. They are enemies who need to marry for him to draw his inheritance but yet there is so much more. I loved finding out why he had treated her the way he did in the past. On top of that, Jocelyn had a difficult past with having to take care of her sister and her dad both at such a young age. It has made her a little hard and difficult to a difficult but Luke started to change that. I loved watching them both fall for each other. It's a great quick read. I can't wait to read Alex's story next.

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

This was a great story. I loved the tension between Jocelyn and Luke, and seeing them go from enemies to lovers was great. I can definitely relate to Jocelyn, being an older sibling myself, and seeing her finally realize that the past needs to be let go and she needs to move forward with her life with no regrets or stress, to a certain point.

I'm glad I got the chance to read this book and I'm very intrigued about Alex's mystery man!
